sobrino: what if you don't need to change anything?
me: then i'll send it to the people who asked me to write it.
sobrino: then you'll get an A?
me: no, i won't get an A, but i'll get published.
sobrino: you mean like in a book??
me: yes
sobrino: so when i look at the book, it'll say, written by tía izzy quintana?
me: something like that.
sobrino: cool!

(last night at dinner, after manito d picked me up from the coffeeshop)
sobrino: hey tía izzy! what you workin on at the coffeeshop?
me: an article
sobrino: what's it about?
me: Chinese and Mexican people
manito d: she's writing about us!
sobrino: whoa!!

sobrino: (looking over my shoulder at my document on the screen) wow! that's a lot of words!
me: (turn to smile at him, say nothing)
sobrino: good job, tía izzy! (sweet smile)

sobrino: did you finish your, um, article?
me: not yet, i've still got a ways to go
sobrino: how much did you do?
me: about two-thirds
sobrino: two-thirds left??
me: no, one-third left
sobrino: good job, tía izzy! (pats me on the shoulder and smiles)
