failed celebrity sightings

When I got off the plane and walked up to hug my tío, I swear he was sitting next to Robert Duvall! I looked that dude right in the eye, but didn’t say anything because, of course, I have no celebrity-name-memory skills. My tío didn’t recognize him, but he’d listened to dude’s entire conversation. It also looked like he had a brown servant…I mean, driver…I mean, person with a suit and a serious earpiece…I mean, personal assistant…with him. So of course I figured he must be a famous U.S. celebrity.

But then again, I also thought I was sitting next to Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the plane. I flew Southwest, so in retrospect, she was probably not Buffy. Which probably means that dude was not Robert Duvall. ¿Quien sabe?

…but if it was him, he definitely looks better in person!

I could go for a cupcake right now…but I could always go...

Whenever the commercial for the new 90210 series plays—usually during my bedtime t.v.-watching ritual—the music alone causes an instinctual reaction in which I immediately leap for the remote, lest the show begin before I can change the channel. Then I realize it’s just a commercial. Interestingly, I have the same reaction when the 700 show comes on or when I hear W’s voice on NPR too early in the morning. I wonder what else causes this response…

- f.b. message from someone i went to high school with. i guess i do look different. i mean, now that i’m grown and sexy and, well, not living in w.v. i don’t recognize this person—but i think i might have blocked out much of high school from my memory.
